EOHSI's Clinical Research Unit Present at the Clinical Trial Awareness Day Event “Ride the Clinical Research Wave” at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital

The Clinical Research Unit (CRU) of the Environmental and Occupational Health Science institute (EOHSI) participated in the Clinical Trial Awareness Day event, “Ride the Clinical Research Wave”, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital on Thursday July 25th.  Our unit, with support from EOHSI’s NIH center grant and the Rutgers Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA), supports human research studies related to occupational and environmental  exposures such as air pollution, 9/11 dust, and reproductive hazards from consumer products (http://ceed.rutgers.edu/facility-cores-3/ihs/).  The event was sponsored by Rutgers School of Health Professions’ Master of Science in Clinical Trials Science Program and the Rutgers Clinical Research Centers at Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and The New Jersey Medical School. The purpose of this event was to increase clinical trial awareness among health care professionals, potential study participants, and the general public, as well as to increase awareness of clinical research as a career option.   The event was a huge success in making the public and other institutions aware of research opportunities. Here at EOHSI we spoke with over 100 individuals who showed interest in our center and we were able to recruit several volunteers for our ongoing study about the effects of ozone exposure on the lung.
