Inhale, Exhale.
As the COVID-19 pandemic is far from over, it is more important than ever to keep our lungs healthy. But that can be hard, with microplastics all around us. Micro fibres from textiles have been found everywhere on our planet. From the top of the Himalaya to both poles and the deepest trenches of the ocean. But also in indoor environments, including our homes. One third of our household dust is estimated to be microplastics! These are shed by our synthetic clothes, furniture, carpets etcetera.
In this series we’ll be sharing new evidence of the effects plastics have on our health, and especially the health of our children.
About Inhale, Exhale
In this episode we’re talking about how plastics in the air we breathe affect our lungs, for example nylon and polyester fibres. And once we have inhaled these fibres, can they travel to other parts of our body? To what extent can the fast fashion industry be held accountable for this pollution, and what can YOU do to protect your lungs?
