Job Description: Postdoctoral fellowships are available in the newly established at Rutgers Nanoscience and Advanced Materials Research Center (NAMC) under the leadership of Professor Philip Demokritou (former Director of the Center for Nanotechnology and Nanotoxicology at Harvard University). The candidate will be part of an interdisciplinary team and have access to state of the art equipment in the NAMC center and immense resources for biomedical and toxicological research across Rutgers University. Candidates will work on a number of transdisciplinary research projects on the interactions of advanced materials with biological systems with applications in biomedical and agriculture and food systems domain. NAMC center is part of the Rutgers Biomedical and Health Science (RBHS) community with an annual $750M in sponsored research

Requirements:

  • PhD or equivalent degree in biomedical sciences, material science, biology, toxicology, environmental health, or a closely related discipline
  • Candidates with experience and interest in synthesis and physicochemical and morphological characterization of materials in both pristine phase and in biological systems using state of the art techniques ( S/TEM, FTIR, XPS, BET) etc
  • Strong skills in cell culture techniques and basic toxicological cellular assays (MTT, LDH, ). is a plus
  • Experience with the development and validation of advanced cellular models including organ on a chip systems is a plus
  • Previous experience with animal studies and/or the fate of chemicals and particles in the GIT is a plus
  • High-quality first author publications in peer-reviewed journals
  • Excellent English communication skills
  • Strong work ethic and able to self-motivate
  • Ability to interact well with others and work in a team environment
  • Capable of working independently with minimum supervision
  • Authorization to work in the United States (citizen, green card, or valid visa/OPT)
