Learning Objectives:

  1. Introduce concepts of cancer epidemiology, its definition and aims
  2. Explain and contrast concepts as they apply to cancer causality: single causes; multiple causes; necessary and sufficient causes and the Bradford-Hill criteria
  3. Familiarize attendees with the systems developed by the U.S. government and the World Health Organization to assess the human carcinogenicity of an exposure
  4. Explain why understanding cancer epidemiology and causality is important in clinical epidemiology

Target Audience: : Environmental and/or occupational medicine practitioners, community health workers, industrial hygienists, researchers, students of air pollution health effects and to others in the field of environmental and occupational safety and health. Occupational Physicians, Nurses, Industrial Hygienists, fellows, residents, medical students and environmental exposure scientists.
