Project Overview



Project Management Team

The Project Management Team provides general oversight; guides and coordinates project activities; facilitates communication among project partners and other stakeholders; monitors progress of project activities; and addresses project problems and concerns.

District Steering Committee

The District Steering Committee provides general oversight within the school district; guides and coordinate project activities; facilitates communication; identifies Working Group members and others who will participate in project activities; and addresses district problems and concerns.

Grade-Specific Working Group

The Grade-Specific Working Group develops grade-specific integrated (health, language arts, math and science) environmental health (EH) curriculum units that meets district guidelines and state standards; develops student assessment tools; pilot-tests and revises the EH units; and helps implement curriculum units.

Project Evaluation Team

The Project Evaluation Team oversees evaluation including partner involvement, curriculum development, teacher training and support, curriculum implementation and institutionalization of the model. The curriculum evaluation includes environmental health Knowledge & Attitudes (pre/post) evaluation for each grade and the following standardized tests: New Jersey Elementary School Proficiency Assessment (ESPA), Grade Eight Proficiency Assessment (GEPA) and California Achievement Test (CAT).

Scientist Involvement Task Force

The Scientist Involvement Task Force creates opportunities for scientists to share their knowledge and expertise in the classroom; enables students/teachers to learn about current EH issues from "real-world" scientists; and encourages students to pursue EH sciences careers.

Project Advisors

Project Advisors: assist with dissemination, the use of the collaborative model, ensure that curriculum units are integrated, identify selected curriculum activities, provide project evaluation results and assist with development of the EH Knowledge & Attitudes (pre/post) evaluation instrument.
