What is the HOPE Partnership?

HOPE Partnership (Health Observances & Public Education)

Welcome to this temporary page for the HOPE Partnership. The Resource Center is managing this five-year, innovative public health science education project, supported by a Science Education Partnership Award (SEPA) from the National Center for Research Resources, National Institutes of Health (Grant No. R25 RR018490). The overall mission of this nationwide project is to improve public understanding of the biomedical and health-related sciences and the impact of research on human health. The HOPE Partnership is capitalizing on three established national health observances – Cancer Control Month, Asthma and Allergy Awareness Month and Lead Poisoning Prevention Week – to see this mission achieved.

Eight universities nationwide are collaborating on HOPE. These project partners are developing Health Observance Packages, containing educational materials designed to raise public awareness as to how research is lending towards the prevention, detection and/or treatment of diseases/illnesses. The Health Observance Packages will be implemented through six action mechanisms, or modes of dissemination: community forums, formal education, informal education, media, non-profit organizations and science centers/museums.

This page, as well as the entire Resource Center website, is undergoing a major revision to better serve the needs of our audiences. Please continue to check back in with us to see what’s new.
