Environmental Decision Making: Problems and Challenges for Middle School Students

Lessons encourage students to analyze information on products made of paper, glass, aluminum, and plastic and then evaluate the environmental impact of those products. The activities, based on actual environmental issues, help students develop decision-making skills based on reasoning and logic.

Talkin' Trash (20 min.)
Is plastic better than Styrofoam? Is a paper bag better than a plastic bag? Students explore these and other issues as they learn how to make environmentally responsible purchasing decisions. There are no right or wrong answers provided - it is the viewer's responsibility to make his or her own decisions.
