Dr. Eric Richfield is the Director of the Molecular Histology Center. Dr. Richfield is a board certified neuropathologist with extensive expertise in the use of tissued section- based assays. He has experience working with different species including laboratory mice and rats and human tissue. Tissue section-based assays include standard histochemical techniques, immunohistochemistry using both chromogenic and fluorescence detection methods, isotopic receptor autoradiography and isotopic in situ hybridization histochemisty. References for the various services offered by the Molecular Histology Center can found on the references page.

Dr. Richfield is also experienced in the quantitative analysis of these methods including quantitative receptor autoradiography using film, quantitative in situ hybridization histochemistry using both film and phosphor screens, grain counting of emulsion dipped slides, and the stereologic counting of cells using immunohistochemistry. References for these techniques can be found in the references page of the Molecular Histology Center.
