Howard Kipen, M.D., M.P.H.
Dr. Kipen’s research focuses on clinical and epidemiological studies of the health effects of ambient air pollution. He works closely with Rob Laumbach of the CROM division as well Zhi-Hua Fan of Exposure Science and Andrew Gow of Toxicology. They use both controlled exposure models with fresh aerosols and diesel-enriched on-road exposures, primarily with drives on the New JerseyTurnpike. Biomarker outcomes presently emphasized are exhaled breath oxidative stress, proteasome activity and vascular function.
