A major goal of our lab is to understand the role of genetic polymorphism in human susceptibility to environmental diseases and response to therapeutic drugs. We have been focused our research activities on the functional characterization of genetic variants of human CYP2A6, CYP2A13, and POR. The other projects include the study on etiological role of cigarette smoke in breast cancer occurrence and the cardiotoxicity induced by environmental chemicals.

Characterization of human cytochrome P450 2A6 (CYP2A6) and 2A13 (CYP2A13) including their role in metabolizing gasoline ethers, tobacco-specific carcinogens, and aflatoxins.
Identification of amino acid residues that are critical for the catalytic function of CYP2A6 and CYP2A13 by site-directed mutagenesis and computer modeling.
Identification of functional genetic variants of human CYP2A13, CYP1B1 and cytochrome P450 reductase (POR)
